In the field of higher education, the town Kandi is
adorned by Raja Birendra Chandra College. The library is the repository of
knowledge of an institution. The Central Library of Raja Birendra Chandra
College was established in the year 1965. The Central Library of
Raja Birendra Chandra College is located
on the second floor of the main building. The students, teaching and non teaching staff of the
college are facilitated by the accessibility to the central library for their
requirements. With the introduction of CBCS and later, NEP 2020, the Central
Library has brought a large number of books to provide the students with the
latest study materials. Most of the books are in vernacular language as
majority of the students prefer it. Our Library is equipped
to serve learners in accordance with the change of curriculum. Local culture,
language and literature finds expression in a separate collection in the
library where books and other publications related to the local area are kept.
This is still a fledgeling division of the library. However, our district is
rich in history and culture. A number of great literary figures have worked
here at various times. So, an initiative has been taken to make sure that our
College Library provides adequate resources to educate our students about our
heritage. Though this collection has been recently started, there are long term
plans to expand this section. Dearth of space is the most pressing limitation
of our library. Efforts are now being made to expand the library space so that
new collections reflecting NEP 2020 can be increased. Our central library is
under CCTV surveillance. The Librarian organizes Library Orientation Programme
at the beginning of the academic session to make students aware of all the
services and facilities provided by the library.
